KDSI Season One Ends

MYTHICC’s first keystone dungeon invitational officially ended last Thursday! 🧨 The 9-week long event tracked participants dungeon timers and how much time was left tallied together. Time bonuses were awarded every week to participants as additional incentive to come. With that all being said… we have our winners.

The Winners

  1. Andramantis at 5:42:30
  2. Aleiya at 5:08:56
  3. Jujubae at 5:06:46

Each winner took home a major gold pot! 💰 First place took home 700k, second place at 400k, and third place at 200k. For future events, we are shortening the KDSI season so it won’t be so long and reviewing prizes. Did someone say game time??? 🤩 Keep your eyes out for the next event and thank you to everyone who came and participated!!!

Introducing De Other Raid

Major news coming from leadership at MYTHICC! We are proud to announce our newest raiding team to our family, De Other Raid! Led by Wellfleet and Co., DOR is a heroic raiding team that dabbles in mythic.

When Do They Raid?

  • Saturdays from 7:00-11:00pm CST
  • Sundays from 2:00-5:00pm CST

What Type Of Team Is This?

DOR is an AOTC driven heroic raiding team that raid up to 6 hours a week. They set aside Sundays to finish loose ends from the previous evening, however, this will change when KDSI wraps up. Sunday afternoon raid times will move to Thursday evenings. This change won’t conflict with any other major guild events so members won’t have to choose between KDSI Season 2 or anything else the guild currently hosts.

The goal for DOR is to offer a midweek and weekend semi-hardcore raiding experience so that the rest of the week is free to be with friends or family. DOR raiders are expected to be informed about their class/spec, have consumables and enchantments, and adequate raiding knowledge.

Why Choose This Team?

DOR offers something the other two raiding experiences in the guild don’t – a more laid-back approach to raiding and a less grueling schedule. RF1 and MM would be considered “hardcore” since their raiding expectations and outside-raid requirements must remain competitive. Ultimately though, this is what sets DOR apart from our other groups:

If you want to kill bosses while having fun, keep most of your week free, and be done early enough in the evening then this team is for you!

Check out our raid teams page for more information!

The Great MYTHICC Bakeoff Winners Are…

Welcome Bakeoff participants! MYTHICC was pleased to host our first annual Bakeoff in co-sponsorship with the Weekly Disappointment community. There were many beautiful entries but alas, only three could win. Before we announce our busy bee bakers, let’s do a recap of what all was done:

  • Participants baked anything… yes, anything… but preferably baked goods
  • Judges reviewed all entries and gave blind scores based on Creativity, Presentation, and Uniqueness

Without further ado, here are the winners and event picture highlights:

  • Kalilolamb at 45 pts with her cataclysmic Maelstrom Cake, “Azeroth probably felt that one!” – Taru
  • Marcescens at 38 pts with his spirited Peppermint Macarons, “That’s a lot of green.” -Izzac
  • Starflower at 34 pts with her delightful Pineapple Upside-down Cake, “Them cherries be poppin’!” -Kasp

Nailed It!

Inspired by the show Nailed It! on Netflix, we gave our more adventurous bakers a self-serving challenge; could they replicate a difficult cake? The winner also won a copy of the “World of Warcraft Official Cookbook!” They had to pick from one of the following cake options: an angel, a penguin, and a Christmas tree!

Our winner for the Nailed It! category was… 🥁

Anarane with her amazing replica Christmas tree! 🎄 Judges were dazzled with the detail work: the star appearing lit, the snow dusting, and an almost exact plating! Congratulations, Ana and special mentions to Starflower with her Nailed It! penguin – the fondant work was impressive, especially the ornaments!

The Prizes

Each one of our winners will take home the “World of Warcraft Official Cookbook!” Weekly Disappointment community sponsored additional awards to some of our winners:

  • Shadowlands: Base Edition
  • A store mount
  • A store pet

These prizes will be distributed pending review. A huge thank you to all who participated in the first event like this of its kind. We’ll see you all at the next GREAT MYTHICC BAKEOFF! 🍰

GREAT MYTHICC BAKEOFF!

Welcome MYTHICCians and honored participants! Today we announce our GREAT BAKEOFF… but why are we doing this, just whyyy? Because it’s the Holiday season, everything sucks right now-ish, and we need a reason to live during these trying times… so let’s do what we do best in Novemburr and Decempresents and bake! 🍰

But first! Let’s go over some important event and reward information below.

Event Details: 11/7/2020 to 12/15/2020

  • Bake anything!
  • Judges will pick 3 of the best baked goods based on the following: Creativity, Presentation, and Uniqueness.
  • We chose ‘uniqueness’ as a category because if there are 20 cookies posted, consider what you want us to see that makes your cookie stand out from the rest!
  • There is a complementary competition subsection called NAILED IT! See this section further down.
  • You may post as many submissions as you want for both the regular category and NAILED IT!, but all submissions must be posted in the #great-bakeoff🧁 channel and must be a baked good!

Overview of Prizes

Three winners will take home the perfect prize for the Holiday season, especially for the nerdy WoW player that cooks, the World of Warcraft Official Cookbook by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel! Monroe-Cassel has done a number of other famous franchise cookbooks like Game of Thrones, Elder Scrolls, Overwatch, and Hearthstone Innkeeper’s Tavern. Check out her books online! 🍗

NAILED IT!

In addition to the BAKEOFF, we thought it would be a great time to add a subcategory to it. Inspired by the show “Nailed It!” on Netflix, we are giving our more adventurous bakers a self-serving challenge; can you replicate one of these 3 cakes below? The winner will also win a copy of the World of Warcraft Official Cookbook! Pick one of the following cake options:

  • An angel 👼
  • A penguin 🐧
  • A Christmas tree 🎄

Please use these images as your cake lookalikes and post them in the #great-bakeoff🧁 channel and tag it with @NAILED IT so mods can follow!

“RF1 NYAAA!” – A Tier In Review

It’s the end of another tier and with that we have our “end of tier” review. 🥳

Ny’alother, the Derping Kitty, was a very fun raid tier. From finally spanking Wrathion for the shit he pulled in Pandaria (albeit a fake Wraywray) to gunning down the big bad tentacle daddy lord himself in a N’zothian driveby, NYA wrapped up several major lore narratives while delivering diverse class desig… fuck it, you needed to be a fire mage, gg. 🔥

NYA had glaring PvE problems mainly with the last borrowed power system of the expac- corruption. Unlike the Eternal Palace and benthic gear, corruption was not purchasable for a long time and when it was available, it was on a rotating vendor. You had to rely solely on RNGesus: first for your BiS piece to drop, then for it to corrupt – to one out of the MANY corruptions that you needed. Some classes benefitted from corruption more than others, too. As in the case for Fire Mage, it was all stat mastery corruption and for others, it may have been infinite stars or echoing void. If you got lucky early enough, your DPS numbers were light years ahead of others, especially in the case of IS and EV – both highly over tuned corruptions. After the world first race, Blizzy did reign in some corruptions but you can see below how these powers were not balanced and carried early progression fights.

Throwadox, a RF1 team officer, said that “overall I think the corruption system had more downs than ups and I would rather not have a similar system be introduced again. And if we’re talking PvP, corruption is the most un-fun and unfair power that was introduced into the game making classes and comps exceptionally strong (Hpal infinite CD’s thanks to IT, mages and locks having 100% haste and casting <1sec polymorphs/fears/chaos bolts and <2sec greater pyro and rogue/DH which 50%+ of their damage came from gushing wounds/lash of the void).”

Zalasmina said regarding corruption: “I’m sick of borrowed power, this expac was a joke, fuck this game.” 🤷 Hard words from a person with back toes but his feelings can be summarized in the picture below – we love to hate to play this game!

Some more thoughts are as follows:

“The only thing worse than corruption was tentacle porn, and they added both in 1 patch.” -B

“To me, corruption was borrowed power without reasonable limits on top of a patch full of reused assets and art. The fact that obtaining useful corruption was also entirely RNG for a while just sort of killed 8.3 for me and a few other friends.” -P

In the end, RF1 beat daddy uWucles and savored their first CE in MYTHICC. It was well-deserved and a long time coming having been so close in previous tiers this expac. Below is a collection of RF1 and WW/SS moments enjoyed throughout NYA!
