The MYTHICC Bake-Off Goodies!

Welcome readers and bake-off participants! MYTHICC hosted our second annual baking event, and while there weren’t as many entries this time around, the baked good were still gorgeous nonetheless. Let’s do a recap of what all was done:

  • Participants baked anything… yes, anything… but preferably baked goods

It was that easy! Without further ado, here are the highlights:

Nailed It!

Inspired by the show Nailed It! on Netflix, we gave our more adventurous bakers a self-serving challenge; could they replicate a difficult cake? The winner also won a copy of the new “World of Warcraft: New Flavors of Azeroth: The Official Cookbook!” They had to pick from one of the following cake options: an angel, a penguin, and a Christmas tree!

Our winner for the Nailed It! category was… ๐Ÿฅ

Anarane, again, with her spin on the holiday penguin! She’ll take home the new WoW CB, congratulations Ana!

Welcome MYTHICCians and honored participants! Today we announce (again) our 2nd GREAT BAKEOFF? Because it’s the Holiday season, everything sucks right now-ish, and we need a reason to live during these trying times… so let’s do what we do best Decempresents and bake! ๐Ÿฐ

But first! Let’s go over some important event and reward information below.

Event Details: 12/1/2021 to 1/05/2022

  • Bake anything!
  • Judges will pick 3 of the best baked goods based on the following: Creativity, Presentation, and Uniqueness. We chose ‘uniqueness’ as a category because if there are 20 cookies posted, consider what you want us to see that makes your cookie stand out from the rest!
  • There is a complementary competition subsection called NAILED IT! See this section further down.
  • You may post as many submissions as you want for both the regular category and NAILED IT!, but all submissions must be posted in the #great-bakeoff๐Ÿง channel and must be a baked good!

Overview of Prizes

Three winners will take home the perfect prize for the Holiday season, especially for the nerdy WoW player that cooks, the new flavors of Azeroth, the 2nd official World of Warcraft Cookbook by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel! Monroe-Cassel has done a number of other famous franchise cookbooks like Game of Thrones, Elder Scrolls, Overwatch, and Hearthstone Innkeeper’s Tavern. Check out her books online! ๐Ÿ—

In addition to the BAKEOFF, we thought it would be a great time to add a subcategory to it. Inspired by the show “Nailed It!” on Netflix, we are giving our more adventurous bakers a self-serving challenge; can you replicate one of these 3 cakes below? The winner will also win a copy of the 2nd World of Warcraft Official Cookbook! Pick one of the following cake options:

  • An angel ๐Ÿ‘ผ
  • A penguin ๐Ÿง
  • A Christmas tree ๐ŸŽ„

Please use these images as your cake lookalikes and post them in the #great-bakeoff๐Ÿง channel and tag it with @NAILED IT so mods can follow!

I know, I know… this article is hella late but I’m a doctor now so ya’ll better get used to illegible writing and waitingโ€”as they do when you are waiting to be seen. ๐Ÿ™Œ

DOR took down the depressed floating armor cage and original Lich King, Ner’zhul, some time ago opting for the double MD strat. As you can see, the cat mount on the bottom right takes the cake in the photo. Only cultured people ride cats…? “Mehow, les bitches.” ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿฎ

Congratulations to DOR on their casual foray through mythic, now 4/10M, they have their eyes set on 5/10M. Will the Garrosh’s nipple tickler go down? Stay tuned!

Pumpkin Event Winners

Spooktober is over! Judges narrowed down all these awesome pumpkins to just three finalists. Pumpkin carvings were judged based on creativity, effort, and complexity but in the end the guild decided the order of our winners! ๐ŸŽƒ Our winners are:

  1. Rickeybobbie – Stitch with 21 votes
  2. ShamnCheese – “Diablo” kitty with 7 votes
  3. Rhunewise – Evil X-eyes pumpkin – 4 votes

Other submissions by Taru and Lion were considered but ultimately these three took the pie by the slice! ๐Ÿฅง

The Prizes

Winners take home some fancy prizes: Crimson Deathcharger mount (only available to plate wearers who finish the lengthy legendary questline in Icecrown Citadel), Crawling Claw pet, and the Widget the Departed – the best kitty that ever to lived.

Check out all the pumpkins uploaded to our Discord channel below. Thank you for everyone who participated and we’ll see you for the Winter guild BAKEOFF! ๐ŸŽ‚

SL Downs The Bansheequen

SL knocked it out of the park and got AotC last Sunday, 10/3! This officially ends their first tier as a raid team. Asking Googlimoogli what he thought of the fight, he said “I was too drunk to remember!” A great RL everyone… ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ They also forgot to give me a ‘kill’ picture probably because the fight is so long and also so annoying… that they forgot! SHAME! ๐Ÿ‘ป Also… no log… I hate you all.

What’s Next?

Who Sucked The Most Dookie Poopoo?

Lion clearly took first place here, followed closely by our fan favorites Kalanee and Jarkatel. They’re excused, however, as Lion is a Canandiyan and therefore is not human so he is unworthy of any respect. ๐Ÿ

Stay tuned for more ‘firsts’ with SL and if you’re interested in raiding heroic casually but wanting to get shit done, apply!

KDSI Season 3 Ends

MYTHICC’s third keystone dungeon invitational officially ended last Thursday! ๐Ÿงจ The 6-week long event tracked participants through dungeons while keeping a scorecard of their end-of-dungeon timers. Players were awarded bonus points scaling by key level. With that all being said… we have our winners.

The Winners

  1. Pandathrall with 9,932 points
  2. Lightshift with 9,017 points
  3. Thulldar with 8,168 points

Winners took home some sweet rewards! ๐Ÿ’ฐ Keep your eyes out for the next event and thank you to everyone who came and participated!!!

DOR and the Nine

DOR danced the fragment cell block tango and lived! 6 healing really is the easiest strategy here – having the extra healing CDs and dispels (and two priests) makes the fight almost trivial and definitely easier than Eye.

Although, I am a bit sad to see the Nine go – they’ve been with us since Cataclysm! They added an important narrative arc for Sylvanas’s character. Especially after she threw herself off of Icecrown Citadel, was revived, and then serviced to the Jailer since Arthas’s death. I do hope to see them come back but maybe this is an opportunity to make way for some new characters, WoW is in severe need of that! ๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿ‘ผ

Also… #freeHelya.

Glory of the Sanctum Raider

Raiders from all teams banded together to get the sanctum glory achievement! This meant that each member who finished all of the raid achievements got the Hand of Hrestimorak mount pictured here. The tooltip suggests that a race of giants were sent to the Maw to challenge the Jailer for control of the area but failed – all that remains now are their hands!

Enjoy your fancy new mounts everyone! ๐Ÿ‘Œ

DOReyeball Thingy

DOR went eye…. to… eye………………………… with ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ ball boss and won! We actually remembered to take a photo this time so that much was nice. The fight itself sucks major monkey balls mostly because of the intermission phases but it only took’m one time getting to P3 to down him. Thankfully, I did not get yeeted off the side by my cat since I wasn’t playing my MW and aaacccidentaaally chi topedo’d to my doom.

Congratulations DOR! Btw, they got the Nine down to 15% in just 1.5hrs of progression. It should go down this week!

DORvanas and RIP BAMN

The pic above is definitely not DOR… because we forgot to take a photo of our kill so here is one from BAMN. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

On the last pull of the night (why is this still a thing because I feel like it’s a thing), DOR tightened up their mechs and dawned the Belf pewpewing guns to shoot down the Banshee Queen. And much to our surprise, we did it! Heroic progression is now over for this weekend team. Congratulations DOR and helpers (Zal hpal extraordinaire). ๐Ÿ’—

BAMN Lost The Drip ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Unfortunately, the drip stopped dripping for BAMN and the roster boss won the war yet again. Mythic raiding is both a joy and a curse in that there is a particular “high” when a boss is defeated… yet finding a consistent 20-man raid to make that happen is an uphill battle. Mythic raiding has existed since Siege of Orgrimmar (the first M raiding difficulty) and before that it was 25-man heroic raids. I’m sure rostering since then has always been the final boss, but with everything going on at Blizzard now and current disliked power systems, it makes for a recipe for disaster. Players have been leaving the game in droves. ๐Ÿ™€

Youtube content creators suggest that over half of the player base have quit since SL launch, and most of those creators themselves moved on to other projects like FF14. Until Blizzard is able to accommodate their disenfranchised employees and create enjoyable content, the likelihood for players to return is very low. Hopefully the new management co-leads, Ybarra and Oneal, can steer the company back into a good direction. Already, major PTR changes have been announced suggesting that player feedback is being taken into account. The things that frustrates players, however, is that these changes were suggested by them during SL beta. Now that they’re happening a year later is hitting hard. I tend to agree with the general air of things, and while I can argue that game developers should be allowed to present their vision of their game for us to play, ultimately it’s the players that have to live through these systems. And when that feedback has been historically ignored (Legion: purchasable legendaries; BFA: azerite gear, islands, war zones, purchasable corruption), player-to-developer trust erodes – faith in that relationship just isn’t there anymore.

Looking ahead, most of these changes will vastly improve the quality of life of the expansion. I guess tomorrow is when the trusty Data-miners at WoWhead will gift us with a lot of exciting news. I do have a wish list though that’d I’d scream if I saw happen…

Taru’s Wishlist

  • Legion Mage Tower – able to do the mage tower to get the now-gone appearances but only during Legion timewalking.
  • Legion M+ gear scaling – make m+ gear from timewalking actually useful so it’s worthwhile content.
  • Pandaria Challenge Modes – able to do the challenge modes to get the now-gone class tmog sets but only during Pandaria timewalking.
  • Make now-gone mounts available during those timewalkings like the Pandaria pheonixes.
  • Go crazy with the allied race customizations! This is an MMO after all. I want to be able to change my jewelry color on my Panda characters, right?
  • Legacy Raid Tuning – make getting tmogs easier, add a legacy loot currency you can spend to buy missing pieces!
  • Make covenant swapping easy and painless – make reknown an afterthought and not a barrier to player power.

And that’s it, see you all on the de other side! ๐Ÿ’ƒ
